Celebrated conductor Zubin Mehta will conduct the whole run of Verdi’s opera “Falstaff” at the Berlin Staatsoper unter der Linden, replacing the famed conductor Daniel Barenboim, according to the statement on the company’s website.

Mehta will lead an all-star cast that includes Lucio Gallo, Alfredo Daza, Francesco Demuro, Barbara Frittoli, Nadine Sierra, Daniela Barcellona, Jürgen Sacher, Stephan Rügamer, Cristina Damian and Jan Martiník.

The production is by Mario Martone. Stage design is by Margherita Palli, while Ursula Patzak is responsible for costumes.

Run of “Falstaff” begins on January 26 and will end on February 14.

Barenboim, who is the General Music Director of the Staatsoper unter der Linden, is set to be back in the pit on March 7 for the run of Bizet’s opera “Carmen.”  Bizet’s masterwork will feature Anita Rachvelishvili in the title role, Michael Fabiano in the role of Don José, Ildebrando D’Arcangelo as Escamillo, and Christiane Karg in the role of Micaëla.
