Zubin Mehta has come out in defense of Plácido Domingo.

The legendary conductor spoke to El Pais in the Spanish press noting that his heart was broken.

“I am saddened by what is happening to Plácido Domingo. He is great freind and the greatest singer of his time. Not even Caruso was able to reach such heights, Mehta stated. “Plácido visited me three or four times while I was recovering from cancer and I have seen what great success he had in Salzburg. I will work with him this season at the Teatro alla Scala where he will sing Germont and I hope he will be able to continue his career with the success he deserves.”

Mehta is the latest industry personality to come out in defense of Domingo. After 21 women accused Domingo of sexual harassmentas part of the #metoo movement, over 30 women and numerous industry personalities have come out in support of Domingo with the movement #ISupportPlácidoDomingo.
