The Teatro alla Scala has announced a cast change for “Adriana Lecouvreur.”

The company noted that Freddie De Tommaso who was set to make his debut at La Scala withdrew due to COVID-19.

As a result, Yusif Eyvazov will take over De Tommaso’s performances except for the show on March 9, which De Tommaso is still slated to sing.

The news comes after soprano Anna Netrebko withdrew from the production and all future engagement; as a result, Maria Agresta will sing her scheduled performances and Netrebko’s.

Both singers will join a cast that includes Alessandro Corbelli, Ambrogio Maestri, Anita Rachvelishvili, and Elena Zhidkova. Giampaolo Bisanti conducts David McVicar’s classic production.

“Adriana Lecouvreur” opens on March 4 and runs through March 19, 2022.
