YPC National Announces 2026 Summer Choral Intensive
By David SalazarYPC National will present its 2026 Summer Choral Intensive from July 22 to July 25 in New York City.
The intensive will bring together more than 200 young choristers and over 30 conductors, music educators, and university level music students.
The program features two public performances, including “Amistat y Canción: An Evening with the Young People’s Chorus of New York City and Spain’s Veus – Cor Infantil Amics de la Unió” on July 22 at the New York Society for Ethical Culture, and “Concinamus Workshop Performance” on July 25 at Brick Presbyterian Church. Repertoire for the showcases will span classical works, Broadway selections, and global and contemporary choral music, with several selections marking the 250th anniversary of the United States. The July 25 concert will also feature the world premiere of “Earth Rising,” a new work by composer Jim Papoulis.
This summer’s Choir in Residence is Veus – Cor Infantil Amics de la Unió, a children’s choir from Granollers, Spain, led by conductor Josep Vila Jover. Additional clinicians include YPC Founder and Artistic Director Francisco J. Núñez, Creative Director Elizabeth Núñez, NYU voice faculty member Jamon Maple, and choreographer Jacquelyn Bird.
“By bringing together young singers and educators from across the country and around the world, we create opportunities for meaningful exchange and collaboration,” said Núñez, per an official press release. “Our partnership with Veus allows choristers to learn from one another while building friendships that transcend geography and language.”
