Kicking off its 40th season Young Texas Artists announces a $50,000 matching grant challenge.

Following a performance by soprano Krista Renée Pape, Young Texas Artists’ 2024 Gold Medalist in the Voice division, and pianist James Dick at “Classic Cabaret,” a sold-out dinner concert the non-profit’s President and CEO Susie Moore Pokorski announced the matching grant challenge.

Long-time benefactors will double every gift made to the organization, dollar for dollar, through Feb. 10. The organization’s goal is to raise $100,000 by the deadline. Proceeds will support the Young Texas Artists Music Competition, along with audience expansion, performance opportunities and career development services.

The 40th Young Texas Artists Music Competition is scheduled for March 6-8, and is currently accepting applications. The vocal division welcomes Texas residents or those attending a Texas music school, ages 20-32 to participate. Contestants will be vying for Gold and Silver Medals along with $40,000 in cash prizes and performance opportunities. The application deadline is Dec. 31.

“Community support is our foundation and part of our legacy,” Pokorski said in an official press release. “We’ve always welcomed donors and volunteers to join our efforts to encourage excellence in emerging classical musicians and inspire Texas audiences. Now, as we celebrate 40 years of competitions, people who want to support our mission — and be part of our future — can double their impact through this matching campaign.”
