Young People’s Chorus of New York City to Perform at Fifth World Holocaust Forum
By David SalazarTwelve performers from the Young People’s Chorus of New York City will perform at the Fifth World Holocaust Forum on Jan. 23, 2020, commemorating 75 years since the liberation of Auschwitz.
The event, which is organized by the World Holocuast Forum Foundation in cooperation with Yad Vashem and the President of the State of Israel, will take place at the Warsaw Ghetto Square in Yad Vashem, Jerusalem.
The singers will perform musical interludes alongside an international orchestra under the musical direction of UNESCO Artist for Peace Vladimir Spivakov. Among the pieces they will perform are the “Dies Iraes” from Mozart and Karl Jenkins’ Requiems as well as the “Hostias” movement from Saint-Saën’s Requiem.
The Forum will be broadcast live on Facebook and Yad Vashem’s website with live translations in six different languages. There will be more than 45 world leaders in attendance.
