
Yeawon Jun, Darren Drone, Nola Richardson & More Lead Opera Orlando’s 2026-27 Season

Opera Orlando has announced its 2026-27 season.
Soprano Yeawon Jun makes her Company debut in the title role of Puccini’s “Madame Butterfly,” joined by tenor Isaac Hurtado as Lt. Pinkerton. Kalena Bovell conducts and Rebecca A. Herman directs.
Performance Dates: Oct. 2-4, 2026
Opera Orlando presents its first-ever Wagner production with “The Flying Dutchman,” featuring baritone Darren Drone in the title role and German soprano Johanna Will making her Company debut as Senta. Geoffrey Loff conducts and Grant Preisser directs.
Performance Dates: Jan. 22-24, 2027
Soprano Nola Richardson makes her Company debut as Adina in Donizetti’s “Elixir of Love,” alongside baritone Eleomar Cuello as Belcore and bass-baritone Robert Mellon as Dulcamara. Maria Sensi Sellner conducts and Grant Preisser directs. The production is set on the backlot of a 1960s Rome film studio, inspired by Fellini’s “La Dolce Vita.”
Performance Dates: April 23-25, 2027
The Opera Orlando Youth Company performs Hans Krása’s children’s opera “Brundibár” and Lori Laitman’s “Vedem,” two works created inside the Theresienstadt concentration camp during World War II, in partnership with The Holocaust Memorial Resource and Education Center of Florida.
Performance Dates: December 12-13, 2026
Piazzolla and Ferrer’s “María de Buenos Aires” transforms 1010 West Church Street into an Argentinian tango club for an immersive staged experience.
Performance Dates: March 4-6, 2027
The season concludes with a semi-staged concert production of Kern and Hammerstein’s “Show Boat” in partnership with the Orlando Philharmonic Orchestra and Bethune-Cookman University, conducted by Dr. Everett McCorvey and directed by Roberta Emerson.
Performance Dates: May 14-16, 2027
