
Yannick Nézet-Séguin Named Artistic Director Of Met Opera’s Lindemann Young Artist Development Program
By Francisco SalazarYannick Nézet-Séguin has been named the artistic director of the Lindemann Young Artist Development Program.
The New York Times reported that the Metropolitan Opera’s newly appointed Music Director will take over the program first established by James Levine in 1980.
Nézet-Séguin will help in nurturing the next generation of talent by leading the company’s prestigious young artist program.which helped foster the careers of Dawn Upshaw, Aprile Millo, Sondra Radvanovsky and Christine Goerke as well as recent Richard Tucker winner Lisette Oropesa.
Nézet-Séguin is currently conducting a production of Puccini’s “Turandot” and is set to lead Berg’s “Wozzeck” at the Metropolitan Opera as well as Massenet’s “Werther” and the New year’s Eve Gala with Anna Netrebko.
He was recently named Lifetime music director for Montréal’s Orchestre Métropolitain.
