Yannick Nézet-Séguin, Joyce DiDonato & Ailyn Pérez Highlight Philadelphia Orchestra’s 2020-21 Season

The Philadelphia Orchestra has announced its 2020-21 season featuring a number of important soloists. For this article we will focus on vocal performances.

Beethoven’s Missa Solemnis is set to be conducted by Yannick Nézet-Séguin with a cast that includes Jennifer Rowley, Karen Cargill, Rodrick Dixon, and Eric Owens. Joe Miller directs Refik Anadol’s Visually striking designs.

Performance Dates: Oct. 9-14, 2020

Yannick Nézet-Séguin and Joyce DiDonato  team up for Mahler’s Rückert Lieder. The concert also includes the composer’s Symphony No. 4.

Performance Dates: Nov. 12-14, 2020

Julian Wachner conducts Handel’s Messiah to celebrate the holiday season.

Performance Date: Dec. 20, 2020

Yannick Nézet-Séguin conducts Ekaterina Gubanova and Piotr Beczała in Mahler’s “Das Lied von der Erde.” The concert will also include Debussy’s “La Mer.”

Performance Dates: Feb. 26-March 2, 2021

Ailyn Pérez and Charles Castronovo star in Puccini’s “La Bohème” with Latonia Moore, Quinn Kelsey, Andrey Zhilikhovsky, Christian Van Horn, and Donald Maxwell. Yannick Nézet-Séguin conducts.

Performance Dates: May 13-19, 2021

Joyce DiDonato and Yannick Nézet-Séguin team up for Schubert’s “Winterreise.”

Performance Date: June 20, 2021
