The Yale School of Music has announced that Gerald Martin Moore will join the Yale faculty September 2020 as Director of Yale Opera and Coordinator of Vocal Studies for the School of Music.

Moore has served as artistic associate of Carnegie Hall’s SongStudio program led by celebrated soprano Renée Fleming and has been engaged as vocal consultant to the conductor for major opera productions at the Edinburgh International Festival, English National Opera, La Scala, Opéra National de Paris, and Festival d’Aix-en-Provence.

He has also led masterclasses at the Merola Opera Program, Los Angeles Opera Young Artist Program, the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, and the Oberlin Conservatory of Music.

“Known throughout the world for his pedagogical work with some of opera’s most accomplished and celebrated artists, Mr. Moore brings to Yale his passion for teaching voice and preparing those young singers who will soon be introduced to audiences worldwide,” Yale School of Music Dean Robert Blocker said in a press statement.” His artistic direction and teaching will enable us to further strengthen Yale Opera’s legacy of excellence that was so thoughtfully nurtured by Doris Yarick-Cross.”
