Yakima Symphony Orchestra Announces Wage Increase for First Time in Four Years

The Yakima Symphony Orchestra announces wage increases for its musicians for the first time in four years.

The wage increase was approved as part of the organization’s fiscal year 2027 budget by the Board of Directors on Jan. 29, 2026. The pay raises will take effect on July 1, 2026.

Under this new budget, musician wages increase between 13 and 27 percent, depending on a player’s position in the orchestra and the percentage of their contract accepted.

The increases were made possible by successful fundraising and development efforts over the past year as the company seeks to align compensation with its artistic goals.

“It is quite unusual for a city of our size to have a professional symphony orchestra that plays at such a high level. I am so appreciative of all our wonderful musicians and am glad that the organization can thank them through this pay raise,” said Music Director Lawrence Golan per an official press release.
