Xabier Anduaga Added to Donizetti Opera’s ‘Gran Gala sul Sofa’

The Donizetti Opera Festival has announced that Xabier Aduaga will participate in the Gran Gala sul Sofa.

The festival also announced that a 2016 recording of Maestro Riccardo Muti conducting the Orchestra Giovanile Luigi Cherubini will be presented during the event. Conductor Gianluca Capuano was also announced as a special guest.

Anduaga made his debut with the Donizetti Opera Festival in 2018 with “Il Castello di Kenilworth” and in 2019 performed “Lucrezia Borgia” in a new critical edition. OperaWire raved about the young tenor stating “he is a star in the making.”

Capuano opened the Festival in 2017 with a production of “Pigmalion.”

Anduaga and Capuano join a distinguished number of artists including Carmela Remigio, Javier Camarena, Davinia Rodriguez,  Jessica Pratt, Carmela Remigio, Paolo Bordogna, Alex Esposito, and Corrado Rovaris. Francesco Micheli and Riccardo Frizza will host.

The gala will be streamed on Facebook and Youtube at 6 p.m. Italian time.
