Works & Process to Present Gregory Spears & Tracy K. Smith’s ‘The Righteous’

Works & Process is set to present the Santa Fe Opera: “The Righteous” by Gregory Spears and Tracy K. Smith.

The presentation will be held on Oct. 1 at the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum as part of the Works & Process Fall 2023 Season.

The new opera was commissioned by The Santa Fe Opera for premiere in the summer of 2024. The workshop will feature composer Spears and former U.S. Poet Laureate and Pulitzer Prize Smith discussing their newest collaboration. There will also be highlights from the new work performed.

“The Righteous” is set to make its world premiere on July 13, 2024 and will star Jennifer Johnson Cano, Amber Wagner. Anthony Roth Costanzo, Elena Villalón, Michael Mayes, Greer Grimsley, Nicholas Newton, and  Brenton Ryan. Jordan de Souza conducts the production by Kevin Newbury.
