Will Sharpe to Play Mozart in New TV Series

By Francisco Salazar

Will Sharpe is set to play Mozart in a new TV adaptation of Peter Shaffer’s play “Amadeus.”

Deadline reports that the show will reimagine the life of the musical genius, which was revealed at the development stage by Deadline in late 2022.

Sharpe will reunite with “Giri/Haji” writer Barton and director Julian Farino. Adapted from Peter Shaffer’s stage play, “Amadeus”  is set within the musical hub of bustling Vienna at the end of the 18th century, as the 25-year-old titular character arrives in the city no longer a child and determined to carve his path.

“Amadeus” will be executive produced by Paul Gilbert, Megan Spanjian, Michael Jackson, and Stephen Wright. NBCUniversal Global TV Distribution handles international sales.

The show will reveal new cast members in the coming months and production is slated to begin later this year.
