The Wiener Staatsoper has announced two cast changes for its April 15 performance of “Andrea Chénier.”

The company said that Saioa Hernandez will replace Sonya Yoncheva in the role of Maddalena, while George Petean will sing the role of Carlo Gerard replacing Luca Salsi.

Hernandez took to her social media and said, “I’m happy to announce that tomorrow I’ll be singing at the Wiener Staatsoper, replacing my dear and great colleague Sonya Yoncheva in the role of Maddalena in Andrea Chenier’s final performance. I’m looking forward to be in this stage again and seeing you there in the audience!”

Petean sang the second performance on April 12, also replacing Salsi.

They will both join Michael Fabiano, who is singing the title role with Pier Giorgio Morandi conducting.
