Wiener Staatsoper Announces Two Cast Changes

The Wiener Staatsoper has announced two cast changes for the upcoming performances of Donizetti’s “L’Elisir d’amore” and “La fille du régiment.”

Per an official statement on the company’s website, Swedish soprano Johanna Wallroth will take over the role of Giannetta in the presentations of “L’Elisir d’amore” on Sept. 17 & 21, 2020.

Per the same statement, conductor Evelino Pidò will be in the pit for the performance of “La fille du régiment” on Sept. 20, 2020.

Wallroth recently performed the role of Gretel in Humperdinck’s “Hansel und Gretel,” and Susanna in Mozart’s “Le Nozze di Figaro” at the Schlosstheater Schönbrunn Wien. She has also appeared in the role of Ismene in Telemann’s “Orpheus” at the Vadstena Castle.

Wallroth will join a cast that includes Pretty Yende, Jinxu Xiahou, Clemens Unterreiner, and Nicola Alaimo. Bertrand de Billy will conduct the production by Otto Schenk.
