Wiener Staatsoper Announces New Cast Change for ‘Don Giovanni’

The Wiener Staatsoper has announced a cast change for its production of “Don Giovanni.”

The company said that Federica Lombardi will sing the role of Donna Anna on April 16 replacing Slávka Zámečníková.

Lombardi recently performed a production of “Simon Boccnegra” in Vienna. She is known for her Mozart roles as she has performed Donna Elvira in “Don Giovanni,” Fiordiligi in “Cosi fan tutte,” The Countess in “Le Nozze di Figaro” and Elettra in “Idomeneo,” among others. The soprano has also performed at major houses including the Metropolitan Opera, the Royal Opera, Bayerische Staatsoper, and the Teatro alla Scala.

Lombardi joins a cast that includes Andrzej Filończyk, Antonio di Matteo, Bogdan Volkov, Nicole Car, Christopher Maltman, Isabel Signoret, and Jusung Gabriel Park. Bertrand de Billy conducts the production by Barrie Kosky.
