The Wiener Staatsoper has announced a conductor change for its upcoming revival of “Adriana Lecouvreur.”

The company noted that due to an injury Omer Meir Wellber has had to cancel all performances of “Adriana Lecouvreur” which are set to take place between Oct. 22 through Nov. 5, 2021. As a result, Asher Fisch will conduct all performances.

Fisch is the Principal Conductor and Artistic Advisor of the West Australian Symphony Orchestra and is the former Principal Guest Conductor of the Seattle Opera (2007-2013), Music Director of the New Israeli Opera (1998-2008), and Music Director of the Wiener Volksoper (1995-2000). He has conducted at the Metropolitan Opera, Teatro Massimo di Palermo, Teatro Real de Madrid, and Bayerische Staatsoper, among others.

The David McVicar production of “Adriana Lecouvreur” is set to star Brian Jagde, Nicola Alaimo, Ermonela Jaho, and Elīna Garanča.
