Wiener Staatsoper Announces Cast Changes for “L’Elisir d’Amore’ & ‘L’Orfeo’

The Wiener Staatsoper has announced cast changes for productions of “L’Elisir d’Amore” and “L’Orfeo.”

For “L’Elisir d’Amore,” the company said Maria Nazarova will sing the role of Adina on the Oct. 21 performance of Donizetti’s opera instead of Slávka Zámečníková.

Meanwhile, Ileana Tonca will sing the Oct. 20 and 22 performances of Monteverdi’s work replacing Slávka Zámečníková.

Nazarova is a Russian operatic soprano who has performed at the Bolshoi Theater in Moscow, at the Teatro alla Scala in Milan, and at the Salzburg Festival. She has been a member of the Wiener Staatsoper ensemble for five years.

Tonca  has also been a member of the ensemble at the Wiener Staatsoper since 1999 and has performed in numerous productions including “Le Nozze di Figaro,” “Don Giovanni, “Das Rheingold,” “Götterdämmerung,” “Siegfried,” and “Werther.”

Nazarova will sing alongside Bogdan Volkov, Davide Luciano, and Alex Esposito while Tonca will sing alongside Patricia Nolz, Georg Nigl, and Christina Bock.
