The Wiener Staatsoper has announced a cast change for their revival production of Offenbach’s “Les Contes d’Hoffmann.”

The company announced that Dmitry Korchak will sing the title role of Hoffmann instead of Yosep Kang.

Korchak sang the title role of Hoffmann with the New National Theatre in Tokyo for the first time. This will mark his second production in the title role. He is set to perform “Orphée et Eurydice” at the Baden Baden Festspiele,  “Don Pasquale” and ‘Don Giovanni at the Wiener Staatsoper, “Il Pirata” at the Teatro Real, and “Eugene Onegin” at the Palm Beach Opera.

Korchak joins a cast that includes Olga Peretyatko as the four heroines, Luca Pisaroni as the four villains, and Gaëlle Arquez as Nicklausse. Frédéric Chaslin conducts Andrei Serban’s production.

“Les Contes d’Hoffmann” is set to be performed on Sept. 5 through 15, 2019.
