The Wiener Staatsoper has announced that bass Stefan Cerny will sing the role of Osmin in Mozart‘s opera “Die Entführung aus dem Serail” on June 15 from the orchestral pit.

The company announced that in order to preserve the integrity of staging, Goran Juric will act the role on stage.

Cerny will join a cast that includes Christian Nickel as Bassa Selim, Brenda Rae as Konstanze, and Regula Mühlemann in the role of Blonde. The cast also includes Daniel Behle as Belmonte and Michael Laurenz as Pedrillo.

Antonello Manacorda conducts the production by Hans Neuenfels.

Cerny is a well-known bass who has performed at the Royal Opera House and is a regular performer at the Volksoper Wien. He is scheduled to perform at the Opéra de Lyon in February and March 2022.
