Wiener Staatsoper Announces Cast Change for ‘Anna Bolena’

The Wiener Staatsoper has announced a cast change for its upcoming performance of “Anna Bolena.”

The company noted that Nicholas Brownlee will sing the role of Enrico VIII in the performance on Feb. 12 replacing Erwin Schrott.

Brownlee recently at the Wiener Staatsoper and the Metropolitan Opera in productions of “La Bohème” and was also seen at the Opernhaus Zurich. This season he returns to Oper Frankfurt for productions of “Fedore,” Die Frau ohne Schatten,” and “Krol Roger.”

The bass-baritone joins a cast that includes Diana Damrau in the title role, Ekaterina Semenchuk, Pene Pati, and Szilvia Vörös. Giacomo Sagripanti conducts the revival.

Schrott returns to the production on Feb. 16. “Anna Bolena” runs through Feb. 22, 2022.
