White Snakes Projects Unveils Fall 2024 Season

White Snakes Projects has unveiled a series of performances and community events for fall 2024.

First up is “Talks With Tunes” at the Boston Public Library. The concert series will feature panels with experts on a wide range of topics including “Voting as Freedom,” “A History of Protest Songs,” and “Recreating Fannie Lou Hamer’s World,” among others.

Performance Dates: Sept. 4 – Oct. 17, 2024

“Sing Out Strong; Emancipated Voices” will feature the musical responses by composers to the question “What does voting mean to you?”

Performance Dates: Sept. 15, 2024

Then comes the world premiere of “Is This America?” a new opera that celebrates the legacy of Fannie Lou Hamer, a Mississippi activist who fought for the registration of Black voters in her home state despite facing death threats, beatings, and other crimes against her rights. The opera stars Deborah Nansteel as Fanie Lou Hamer alongside Carl Dupont,  Jessica Tasucu, Joel Clemens, Carina DiGianfilippo, Chris Remkus, Fred VanNess, Nina Evelyn, and Naila Delgado.

Performance Dates: Sept. 20 – 22, 2024

Concluding the fall season is “Let’s Celebrate” which features three 20-minute operas showcasing the holiday traditions of Uzbekistan, Mexico, and Spain. The works and performers will be unveiled at a later date.

Performance Dates: Dec. 13-15, 2024
