When To Watch Lyric Opera of Chicago’s ‘Orphée Et Euridyce’ On PBS Great Performances

By David Salazar

PBS will showcase a performance of “Orphée et Eurydice” from the Lyric Opera of Chicago on Friday, Jan. 18, 2019.

The broadcast will kick off at 9 p.m. EDT and stars Andriana Chuchman, Dmitry Korchak, and Lauren Snouffer.

The production famously brought together director-choreographer John Neumeier and the Joffrey Ballet for a production that OperaWire stated “Gluck’s ‘Orphée et Eurydice’ is one of opera’s most important works because of its subsequent influence and Neumeier’s vision of it as a Gesamtkunstwerk through ballet is clear.”

Other performances slated for showcases on PBS include “Doubt” from the Minnesota Opera as well as numerous productions from the Metropolitan Opera, including “Marnie,” “La Fanciulla del West,”“Samson et Dalila,” ”La Traviata,” “Adriana Lecouvreur,” “La Fille du Régiment,” “Carmen,” “Die Walküre,” and “Dialogues des Carmélites.”
