Wet Ink Ensemble Releases New Online Journal

By Logan Martell

Wet Ink Ensemble has released the second edition of its new, online journal, the “Wet Ink Archive.”

Featuring discussions, insights, and musical excerpts, this edition includes “Echoes, Mirrors, Roses: Behind the Scenes of a New/Old Opera” an in-depth exploration of composer Kate Soper’s upcoming work “The Romance of the Rose.” Soper will be joined by director Michael Rau and music director Josh Modney as they share their experience of working on the project. While originally slated for an April 2020 premiere, “The Romance of the Rose” will debut in April of 2021.

Also featured is “Wordlike/Noiselike/Pitchlike” where composer and Obie Award-winning playwright Rick Burkhardt discusses the methods behind his theatrical style of chamber music, and his personal relationship with the building blocks of his music. These stories, among others, can be accessed for free at the Wet Ink Archive’s website.
