Welsh National Opera Announces Two New Podcasts

By Francisco Salazar

The Welsh National Opera has launched its latest podcast mini-series “Modern Life.”

The new series will feature three episodes with broadcaster Gareth Jones exploring how traditional opera has been adapted to reflect contemporary themes and poses the question: should opera reflect modern life?

In the series Jones is joined by such guests as former Daily Telegraph opera critic Rupert Christiansen and acclaimed opera director Sir David Pountney.

The Welsh language podcast “Cipolwg” will take a different route with a number of guest hosts joining WNO Dramaturg Elin Jones. Welsh Tenor Robyn Lyn Evans opens the series, followed by Mezzo-soprano and WNO Chorus member Sian Meinir hosting episode two. Welsh pianist and conductor Iwan Teifion Davies conducts the series.

Audiences can listen to the podcast on Spotify, Apple, and Google podcasts.
