Waterperry Opera Festival Announces Mini-Festival

By Francisco Salazar

The Waterperry Opera Festival has announced a mini-festival featuring two concerts.

In a press release, the U.K. festival said, “It has been a long and difficult road, but we are glad to be able to welcome back both artists and audiences to live performance at Waterperry this August (15th & 16th) with a new mini-festival program of outdoor opera.”

The festival will showcase Festival Music Director Bertie Baigent conducting Mozart’s “Così fan tutte” in front of the Waterperry House facade. The Mozart opera will be directed by Guy Withers, with a cast of some of the UK’s most talented emerging singers. Additionally, the performance will be accompanied by a small ensemble of instrumentalists and performed in an English translation with singers on-book.

The festival will also include Associate Artistic Director Rebecca Meltzer helming Jonathan Dove’s song-cycle “Ariel” at the Waterperry Gardens.

Tickets go on sale on July 13, 2020.
