Waterperry Opera Festival Announces 2022 Season

The Waterperry Opera Festival has announced its 2022 season.

The festival, which will run between August 12 and 20 2022, will feature eight productions.

The season opens with Mozart’s “The Marriage of Figaro” with Music Director Bertie Baigent conducting the production by Isabelle Kettle.

Performance Dates: August 12-20, 2022

“Svadba ‘A Wedding'” by Ana Sokolović will make its UK professional premiere. The work will be directed by Rebecca Meltzer and conducted by Lada Valešová.

Performance Dates: August 18-20, 2022

Jonathan Dove’s “Mansfield Park” will return to the Waterperry, bringing Jane Austen’s world to life once again with witty charm and lively music.

Performance Dates: August 12-16, 2022

Prokofiev’s “Peter and the Wolf” will be directed by Artistic Director Guy Withers, and choreographed by Julia Cave.

Performance Dates: August 13-20, 2022

Leoš Janáček’s “The Diary of One Who Disappeared” will be directed by Guy Withers and musically directed by Ashley Beauchamp

Performance Dates: August 17 & 19 2022

Wagner at Twilight: a Concert of Siegfried Idyll and Wesendonck Lieder” will be conducted by Bertie Baigent and will be an intimate concert that juxtaposes music expressing the purity of nature and the turbulence of human emotion.

Performance Dates: August 17 & 19, 2022

Jonathan Dove’s “Figures in the Garden” will see a collaboration between dance students from Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance and young local musicians from Oxfordshire County Youth Orchestra. ​

Performance Dates: August 12 & 13, 2022

The final production of the season will be “Flora,” a new commission by Anna Semple and Emily Pahlawan Collinson.
