On Sunday, July 7, 2019, audiences will get a chance to check out the Metropolitan Opera’s production of “La Fille du Régiment” as part of PBS’s Great Performances from the Met series.

The opera stars Pretty Yende in the title role, alongside Javier Camarena, who made history throughout the run of the opera by encoring the famed aria “Pour mon ame” during every performance, including the one that will be transmitted.

Other cast members include Stephanie Blythe as the Marquise de Berkenfield, Maurizio Muraro as Suplice, and film star Kathleen Turner as the Duchess Krakenthorp in her Met debut. Enrique Mazzola conducted the run. Nadine Sierra is the host for the transmission.

Of the run, OperaWire’s review noted: “This is the perfect show for everyone. For those unfamiliar with opera, it’s an opportunity to see how much fun it can be. And for the opera-obsessed, it’s impossible to ignore the incredible artists assembled here. With ‘La Fille du Régiment,’ the Met Opera has scored a rare victory in 2018-19.”
