Watch Met Opera’s ‘Aida’ Starring Anna Netrebko On PBS

PBS will showcase the Live in HD broadcast of “Aida” from the Metropolitan Opera as part of its Great Performances Series on Sunday, Jan. 20, 2019. 

The broadcast, the first to showcase a performance from the 2018-19 season, will kick off at 12 p.m. EDT and features Anna Netrebko in Verdi´s famed opera. The performance also featured Anita Rachvelishvili as Amneris and Quinn Kelsey as Amonastro. Aleksandrs Antonenko starred as Radamès. 

Of the production, OperaWire’s review noted, “All in the all, this could be seen by many as a historic night. The two dueling divas re-established their greatness on the Met stage in one of the iconic works of the repertory.”

Next up on the PBS Great Performances showcases from the Metropolitan Opera will be “Marnie,” followed by “La Fanciulla del West” and “Samson et Dalila.””La Traviata,” “Adriana Lecouvreur,” “La Fille du Régiment,” “Carmen,” “Die Walküre,” and “Dialogues des Carmélites” follow thereafter.
