By David Salazar

The Lyric Opera of Chicago has announced that it will be streaming the Verdi Voices Concert for free.

The concert, which started streaming on June 29, 2022, starred tenor Russell Thomas and soprano Tamara Wilson. Conductor Enrique Mazzola led the Lyric Opera of Chicago’s orchestra. The showcase features arias from “Don Carlo,” “Simon Boccanegra,” as well as duets from “Aida” and “Otello.” Audiences also got to hear the overture from “La Forza del Destino.”

The video also offers a preview of the company’s upcoming production of “Ernani.” That opera will star Thomas and Wilson, alongside Quinn Kelsey, and Christian Van Horn. Mazzola, the new music director of the Lyric Opera Chicago, will conduct that opera as well as such works as “Le Comte Ory” and “Don Carlo.”

The video can be streamed on the Lyric Opera of Chicago’s official website as well as on its official YouTube channel. Or just watch it here.
