Watch Hui He in ‘Madama Butterfly’ From Met Opera on PBS

PBS will present the Live in HD broadcast of “Madama Butterfly” from the Metropolitan Opera on Feb. 2, 2020 as the latest installment in the 2019-20 Great Performances Series.

The broadcast will kick off at 12 p.m. EDT and Hui He in the title role alongside Bruce Sledge as B.F. Pinkerton and Paulo Szot as Sharpless. Elizabeth DeShong plays Suzuki, Pier Giorgio Morandi conducts, and Christine Goerke hosts.

Of one performance of this run, OperaWire’s review noted, “This production strikes a captivating balance between traditional and conceptual approaches, with the artists of Friday night delivering a truly impressive performance.”
