OperaVision will start streaming La Monnaie’s production of “La Gioconda” on Feb. 12, 2019.
Béatrice Uria-Monzon headlines in the title role while Silvia Tro Santafé takes on Laura. Franco Vassallo is Barnaba and Ning Liang is La Cieca. Finally, Jean Teitgen is Alvise. Stefano La Colla is Enzo.
The stream kicks off at 7 p.m. local time. That’s around 1 p.m. EDT and 10 a.m. PST for the start time. It will be available for repeat viewings on Opera Vision until August 11, 2019.
The streaming service is free through OperaVision, which, per its official website, is a project “supported by the European Union’s Creative Europe program, OperaVision builds on the success of The Opera Platform, with more contributing opera companies from more countries, under the editorial supervision of Opera Europa, the European association of opera companies and festivals. OperaVision brings together 30 partners from 18 countries and invites you to travel and discover the diversity of opera from wherever you want, whenever you want.”
There is only one other stream coming in February to OperaVision. It is “Brothers” from the Icelandic Opera.
