Washington Performing Arts Unveils 2023-24 Season

Washington Performing Arts has announced its 2023-24 season. Here is a breakdown of the classical vocal performances scheduled for next season.

Washington Performing Arts’ Children of the Gospel Choir will perform in “Season of Hope” alongside the United States Air Force Band under Col. Don Schofield.

Performance Dates: Dec. 9 & 10, 2023

Bass-baritone Joseph Parrish will join Damien Sneed for a recital. The showcase, which features German lieder, Russian romances, American songs, a world premiere by YCA Composer-in-Residence Alistair Coleman, will also spotlight the Washington Performing Arts’ Children of the Gospel Choir under Michele Fowlin.

Performance Dates: Feb. 6, 2024

Washington Performing Arts’ Gospel Choirs will perform in a choral tribute to Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. The showcase, titled “Living the Dream… Singing the Dream,” will be led by Michele Fowlin and Theodore Thorpe III.

Performance Dates: Feb. 18, 2024

The E-Collective, Turtle Island Quarter, and Andrew F. Scott will headline “Fire Shut Up in My Bones: Opera Suite in Concert.” The performance is presented alongside with The Music Center at Strathmore.

Performance Dates: April 26, 2024

Baritone Lester Lynch joins the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra under Sir Simon Rattle for a concert featuring music by Wagner, Zemlinsky, and Beethoven.

Performance Dates: April 30, 2024

In June, Children of the Gospel Choir, under Michele Fowlin and Anthony Walker, will perform in concert.
