Washington Concert Opera Announces New Executive Director

By David Salazar

The Washington Concert Opera has announced that Meg Sippey is its new Executive Director, effective April 18, 2022.

Sippey has held management positions with such organizations as Bay Atlantic Symphony, Omaha Symphony, Memphis Symphony Orchestra, Baltimore Symphony Orchestra, Aspen Opera Theater, and Houston Grand Opera. Additionally, she also performed as a professional flutist prior to work in management.

“I am thrilled to be joining Washington Concert Opera, and becoming part of its 35 year history of presenting rarely-performed gems and providing a stage to feature both established and emerging artists’ incredible talents,” Sippey told OperaWire. “It is a particularly exciting time as we are in the midst of our in-person 2022 season with the upcoming ‘Orphée’ this Sunday, and ‘Lakmé’ coming up in May.

“Together with Maestro Antony Walker, the Board of Directors and staff, I look forward to continuing to develop a deep connection in the community by expanding our collaborations with other arts organizations and our outreach throughout the DC Metro Area.“
