The Washington Concert Opera has announced a cast change for “Roberto Devereux.”

The company noted that Julie Boulianne will no longer portray the role of Sara and will be replaced by Elizabeth DeShong.

DeShong has performed all over the world at the Metropolitan Opera, Glyndebourne, Lyric Opera of Chicago, Haymarket Opera, and the Barbican Hall. Her repertoire includes the music of Handel, Rossini, Puccini, and Mozart. This season she is set to perform at the Gran Teatre del Liceu, Opera de Bordeaux, and Atlanta Opera, among others.

The mezzo joins a cast that includes René Barbera in the title role, Roberta Mantegna as Queen Elizabeth, and Ricardo José Rivera as The Duke of Nottingham. “Roberto Devereux” is set to be performed on Dec. 4, 2022.
