
Wagner, Donizetti, And Mozart Operas Headline Longborough Festival Opera 2019
By David SalazarThe Longborough Festival Opera has announced its 2019 slate.
Everything kicks off with “Das Rheingold,” which will kick off the company’s four-year plan to mount the Ring. The production will feature Mark Stone, Darren Jeffery, Mark Le Brocq, Madeleine Shaw, and Simon Wilding among others. Amy Lane directors and Anthony Negus conducts.
Performance Dates: June 5-11, 2019
Wagner’s epic will be followed by Donizetti’s “Anna Bolena,” which will feature Linda Richardson in the title role. Other cast members include Jung Soo Yun, Caryl Hughes, and Lukas Jakobski.
Performance Dates: June 22-July 1, 2019
Ivan Ludlow takes on the title role of “Don Giovanni.” Other castmates include Emyr Wyn Jones, Claire Egan, Paula Sides, William Morgan, and Llio Evans. Thomas Blunt conducts.
Performance Dates: July 11-20, 2019
The festival comes to a close with a production of “La Calisto” with a cast that includes Chiara Vinci, Sophie Goldrick, and Zita Syme, among others. Mathilde Lopez directs.
