The Miller Theatre at Columbia University School of Arts is set to open its 2019-20 Early Music series with a performance by Vox Luminis on Oct. 19, 2019.

The showcase, entitled “Stabat Mater,” will take place at the Church of St. Mary the Virgin in New York City. The event will feature music by Scarlatti, Della Ciaia, Monteverdi, Lotti, and an anonymous composer.

Per a press release, the concert is of added importance to the Belgian ensemble, as Scarlatti’s “Stabat Mater” was the first piece that it sang as a unit.

Vox Luminis was founded in 2004 and has specialized in music composed between the 16-18th centuries. The group has averaged two CD releases per year (13 to date) in addition to over 60 concerts around the world on an annual basis.
