Voices of Singapore to Give a Concert of Mahler & Bernstein

Voices of Singapore is set to present a concert of Mahler and Bernstein on July 13 in the Esplanade Concert Hall.

Taiwan-born conductor Lü Shao-Chia returns to conduct Orchestra of the Music Makers in a program consisting of Mahler’s Symphony No. 6 “Tragic” in A minor and Bernstein’s “Chichester Psalms.” Voices of Singapore under the direction of choir master Chong Wai Lun perform the choral work sung in Hebrew that features a selection of Biblical psalms. “Chichester Psalms” combines elements from Church music, Jewish liturgical tradition, and the American composer’s own contemporary style,

Voices of Singapore is a professional chamber group which consists of choral conductors, singers and music educators living in Singapore. In total the group ha nine separate choirs for all ages. In 2019, the Voices of Singapore Singers, under the direction of Artistic Director Darius Lim performed in world-renowned singer Josh Groban’s inaugural Singapore concert at the Star Theatre.

The Voices of Singapore Singers performed the world premiere of “This Too Shall Pass” by Darius Lim in 2021, at the Pasir Panjang Power Station.
