Voices of Silicon Valley to Present ‘From Gladiator to Genshin Impact’

By David Salazar

Voices of Silicon Valley will present “From Gladiator to Genshin Impact” on Oct. 19, 2024.

At the core of the concert will be Korean-American composer Peter Shin’s “Bits Town from Words,” described as “an incredible work of vocal texture that reflects on the Korean-American experience in arts and culture, and the viscerally overwhelming feelings of clinical anxiety. It is a piece of deep empathy, conveyed almost entirely through voices and emotional experience, rather than lyrical or textual meaning.”

The showcase at the Hammer Theater in San Jose, California, will also feature Schonberg’s “Friede auf Erden,” and new works by Lei Liang and Alexander Frank.

Joining the ensemble will be singers from DeAnza College, who will perform Britten’s “Ceremony of Carols” and Leonard Cohen’s “Hallelujah.”

The concert will get a second performance on Oct. 27, 2024.
