By Afton Wooten

The 2023 Grammy-nominated vocal ensemble VOCES8 premiered the pilot episode of its new documentary series, “Backstage Pass.”

The ensemble’s new film features footage filmed in New York, Philadelphia, Washington, and New Jersey from its Feb. 2023 US tour. The series is an up-close view of what it takes to tour and teach the world to sing. It captures the heart of VOCES8 and its mission to change the world through music. VOCES8 worked with filmmaker Andrew Staples to create the series throughout its in-house studio. The first episode, “On the Road in the USA” can be viewed on Youtube.

In addition to its documentary premiere, the VOCES8 Foundation have officially launch their new six-voice women’s a cappella ensemble, “Lyyra.” The group will make its recording debut with “When The Earth Stands Still” by Don Macdonald. Lyyra’s first EP “More Love” will be release on May 10.

Following global open-calls in May 2023 and live auditions in September, Lyyra was created by The VOCES8 Foundation “to build support and visibility for upper voices and their potential, and extend its global mission to deliver world-beating concert experiences alongside integrated learning and participation work.”
