Vladimir Jurowski Receives Honorary Knight Commander of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire

Vladimir Jurowski has been named Honorary Knight Commander of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire.

The Bayerische Staatsoper announced the news and noted that “Vladimir Jurowski was greeted by His Majesty King Charles III. appointed Honorary Knight Commander of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire. We warmly congratulate you!”

Jurowski was named the Music Director of the Glyndebourne Festival Opera in 2000, and he took on the post in January 2001. In tenure was highly acclaimed, and he remained with the company until the 2013 season. In 2003, he was appointed the London Philharmonic Orchestra’s Principal Guest Conductor. 

Jurowski was named the 11th Principal Conductor of the LPO during the 2007-08 season and was also the Principal Artist of the Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment. In 2021, the Royal Philharmonic Society announced Jurowski as the recipient of the Royal Philharmonic Society Gold Medal for 2021, on the occasion of his final concert as principal conductor of the LPO.
