Vladimir Jurowski, Miah Persson & Sabine Devieilhe Highlight Rundfunk-Sinfonieorchester Berlin’s 2020-21

The Rundfunk-Sinfonieorchester Berlin has announced its 2020-21 season featuring a number of soloists.

For this article we will highlight vocal performances.

Vladimir Jurowski and Anne Schwanewilms perform works by Webern, Berg, and Schnittke.

Performance Date: Sept. 5, 2020

Vladimir Jurowski conducts a Christmas concert featuring soloists Sophie Klußmann, Alice Lackner, Michael Taylor, Stefan Gähler, Christian Oldenburg, and Philipp Alexander Mehr. The program includes music by Bach, Stravinsky, Vaughan Williams, and Mendelssohn. 

Performance Date: Dec. 23, 2020

Vladimir Jurowski conducts Beethoven’s Symphony No. 9 with Miah Persson, Karolina Gumos, Jeremy Ovenden, and Florian Boesch. Hoyer’s “Prolog” für Mezzo-soprano and orchestra wil be performed by Karolina Gumos. The program will be repeated for the New Year’s Eve Silver Concert.

Performance Date: Dec. 30 & 31, 2020

Shostakovich and Tchaikovsky’s works will be performed by soprano Melinda Parsons and instrumentalists Maria Pflüger, Jörg Breuninger, and Philip Mayers.

Performance Date: Jan. 28, 2021

Beethoven’s Fantasy, Jonathan Dove’s “The Passing of the Year,” and Poulenc’s “Gloria” will be performed by Simon Halsey, soprano Iwona Sobotka and Rundfunkchor Berlin.

Performance Date: March 7, 2021

Dima Slobodeniouk conducts Chen Reiss in music by Alban Berg. The program also includes musical pieces by Nielsen and Sibelius.

Performance Date: March 21, 2021

An all-Stravinsky program will be conducted by Vladimir Jurowski and performed by soloists Daria Terekhova, Elena Manistina, Alice Lackner, Ivan Turšic, Alexander Fedorov, Bastian Kohl, Vladimir Ognev, and Stefan Kaminski.

Performance Date: June 6, 2021

Sabine Devieilhe sings a program of works by Rimsky-Korsakov, Britten, and Stravinsky. Vladimir Jurowski conducts.

Performance Date: June 20, 2021
