Vittoria Yeo, George Petean, Caterina Sala & Giuliana Gianfaldoni Lead Teatro Petruzzelli’s 2024 Season

The Teatro Petruzzelli in Bari has announced its 2024 season.

Opera

Beethoven’s “Fidelio” will open the season with Joan Anton Rechi directing and Stefano Montanari conducting. The production is set to star Modestas Sedlevičius, Vito Priante, Jörg Schneider, Helena Juntunen, Tillman Rönnebeck, Francesca Benitez, and Pavel Kolgatin.

Performance Dates: Jan. 26-Feb. 1, 2024 

Vittoria Yeo, Michiko Takeda, Mario Cassi, Luca Galli, Dmytro Popov, Riccardo Della Sciucca, and Nozomi Kato will star in Puccini’s “Madama Butterfly.” Pierluigi Pizzi’s production will be conducted by Giacomo Sagripanti.

Performance Dates: March 3-10, 2024

Emma Dante directs Prokofiev’s “The Fiery Angel” with Jordi Bernàcer conducting. The cast includes Angeles Blancas Gulin, Madina Karbeli, Byung Gil Kim, Mert Süngü, Natalia Gavrilan, Sava Vemic, Dimitris Tiliakos, Ramaz Chikviladze, Yulia Mennibaeva, Tigran Melkonyan, Chiara Mogini, and Gregory Bonfatti.

Performance Dates: April 17-23, 2024

“Il Labirinto di Creta” by Nicola Piovani and Paola Ponti will have its world premiere.

Performance Dates: May 16-22, 2204

Verdi’s “Rigoletto” is set to star Valerio Borgioni, Paride Cataldo, George Petean, Min Kim, Caterina Sala, Claudia Urru, Marco Spotti, and Daniela Innamorati. Renato Palumbo conducts the production by John Turturro.

Performance Dates: June 7-13, 2024

Giuliana Gianfaldoni, César Cortés, Fabio Capitanucci, and Sonia Ganassi star in Donizetti’s “La Fille du Régiment” with Riccardo Bisatti conducting. Barbe & Doucet direct.

Performance Dates: Nov. 8-14, 2024

Puccini’s “Tosca” will conclude the season in a production by Hugo de Ana. Francesco Cilluffo conducts the production which stars Marina Costa Jackson and Courtney Mills sharing the title role. They will be joined by Roberto Aronica, Gaston Rivero, Dalibor Jenis, and Vittorio Vitelli.

Concerts 

Theodor Currentzis conducts an all-Mozart program with pianist Olga Pashchenko, soprano Elizaveta Sveshnikova, countertenor, Andrey Nemzer, tenor Sergej Godin, and bass Alexey Tikhomirov.

Performance Date: March 14, 2024

Matthias Görne and Alexander Schmalcz perform Schubert’s “Die schöne Müllerin.”

Performance Date: Oct. 13, 2024
