Virginia Opera has announced that Will Liverman will be the company’s Creative Partner and Advisor during the 2021-22 season.

In this new position, he will work with the Virginia Opera Artistic and Civic Engagement teams to develop programming, activities, and community partnerships that will develop several initiatives for the long-term. He will also meet regularly with the Virginia Opera staff.

“Bringing opera to all communities is something I’m extremely passionate about. I’m excited to help introduce the artform of opera to new audiences, right here in my hometown—the place where I first discovered opera.  I’m looking forward to joining the Virginia Opera team and furthering our goals of inclusivity, diversity, and community engagement,” Liverman said in a press release.

Liverman assumed the position in Sept. 2021 and will continue in this capacity through June 2022.

Liverman’s appointment coincides with the extension of Artistic Director Adam Turner through the 2024-25 season.
