Virginia Opera Announces 2021-22 Season

Virginia Opera has announced its 2021-22 season, which will include four opera productions and a music theatre piece created in collaboration with the Virginia Arts Festival.

Das Rheingold” will be presented at the Topgolf Virginia Beach and Topgolf Richmond in Jonathan Dove’s condensed orchestration.

Performance Dates: Sept. 12 (Virginia Beach) & 19, 2021 (Richmond)

Next up will be “La Bohème” which will be showcased in Norfolk, Richmond, and Fairfax.

Performance Dates: Nov. 5 – 7, 2021 (Norfolk); Nov. 19 & 21, 2021 (Richmond); Nov. 13 & 14, 2021 (Fairfax)

Jake Heggie and Terrence McNally’s “Three Decembers” will also head to Norfolk, Richmond, and Fairfax to kick-off 2022.

Performance Dates: Jan. 28-30, 2022 (Norfolk); Feb. 11 & 13, 2022 (Richmond); Feb. 5 & 6, 2022 (Fairfax)

The opera season concludes with “Le Nozze di Figaro.

Performance Dates: March 25-27, 2022 (Norfolk); April 1 & 3, 2022 (Richmond); April 9 & 10, 2022 (Fairfax)

Closing out the season will be a production of “The Sound of Music” presented in collaboration with the Virginia Arts Festival.

Performance Dates: May 13-15, 2022
