Vincenzo Milletari to Conduct Prague State Opera’s ‘Rigoletto’

By Logan Martell

Prague State Opera has been announced that rising conductor Vincenzo Milletari is engaged to conduct the company’s production of Verdi’s “Rigoletto.”

The January 30 performance will also be broadcast live on Czech television channel “ČT art” with viewers in the Czech Republic able to view the showcase on the channel’s website for 30 days following its premiere.

“For the third time in just two years I’m taking on ‘Rigoletto,’ this time at the Prague State Opera” Milletarì stated in a press release. “Or rather, I’m immersed in ‘Rigoletto,’ awestruck by the wealth of expression and multi-colored palette of this magnificent score. Its approach is an extraordinary help to me at this time when we have to find within ourselves the strength and motivation to look ahead. I’m working with the Prague State Opera orchestra and chorus on the score in its entirety, to seek out all the most human colors which Verdi poured into it and to highlight the structural unity of this masterpiece”.

A graduate of the Giuseppe Verdi Conservatory in Milan and the Royal Danish Academy of Music in Copenhagen, Milletari has conducted Milan’s Orchestra Sinfonica La Verdi, Parma’s Filarmonica Toscanini, the Aalborg Symphony Orchestra, and the Odense Symphony Orchestra.
