The Vienna State Opera has announced a cast change for its performance of “Die Fledermaus.”

The company has revealed that Maria Nazarova will be performing as Adele in the final performances of the opera, taking over for Regula Muehlemann, who initiated the run and has withdrawn due to illness.

Muehlemann noted on social media that “Dear all. I am very sad to inform you that I have to cancel the last Fledermaus performances due to pneumonia. I had to sing the first two performances when I was ill, but now I can’t do it any more. I am really disappointed – I love this production and my colleagues so much. But we are only human. That’s just the way it is. Hope to see you very soon. With love Regula.”

The cast stars Camilla Nylund, Johannes Martin Kränzle, Wolfgang Bankl, Patricia Nolz, and Hiroshi Amako, among others. Simone Young conducts the production by Otto Schenk.
