
Vienna State Opera Announces Tenor Change for ‘Cavalleria Rusticana’ Performance
By Francisco SalazarThe Wiener Staatsoper has announced a cast change for its Jan. 15 performance of “Cavalleria rusticana.”
The company revealed that tenor Arsen Soghomonyan will make his house debut and take on the role of Turridu, replacing Jonathan Tetelman, who is ill.
Soghomonyan has performed with the Stanislawski-Theater, Royal Opera House, Bayerische Staatsoper, Washington National Opera, and Palau de Les Arts. His repertoire includes the works of Verdi, Puccini and Verismo composers.
The tenor is set to join a cast that includes Elīna Garanča, Elena Zaremba, Adam Plachetka, and Anita Monserrat. “Pagliacci,” which will be performed as part of the double bill, will include Jonas Kaufmann and Maria Agresta. Nicola Luisotti conducts the production by Jean-Pierre Ponelle.
Tetelman is set to return to the production on Jan. 19 when he makes his Wiener Staatsoper debut.
