Vienna State Opera 2018-19 Preview: Live Stream ‘Siegfried’ & ‘Götterdämmerung’

The final two installments of Wagner’s famed Ring Cycle will be live streamed via the Vienna State Opera’s live streaming service.

“Siegfried” will be showcased on Jan. 16, 2019 with Stephen Gould in the title role. Evelyn Herlitzius will perform the role of Brünnhilde with Tomasz Konieczny appearing as the Wanderer. Herwig Pecoraro completes the cast. Axel Kobler conducts the production by Sven-Eric Bechtolf.

The performance starts at 5 p.m. local time and ends five hours later.

“Götterdämmerung” will conclude the cycle on Jan. 20, 2019 with Herlitiuz and Gould reprising their roles from “Siegfried.” Falk Struckmann, Iréne Theorin, and Waltraud Meier join the cast. Kober conducts. The performance kicks off at 4 p.m. local time and will end at around 9:30 p.m.

Per the official website, tickets start at 14 euros (approximately $16 USD) and can be purchased right off the Vienna State Opera’s streaming website. There are options for monthly subscriptions to future performances on the service depending on users’ preference for experience opera from the comfort of their homes.

The Vienna State Opera’s final live stream offering in the month of January will be Verdi’s “Falstaff.”
